In this cross-sectional, population-based study, the association between metabolic syndrome by ATP III criteria and nonfatal ischemic heart disease (IHD) defined as myocardial infarction and ischemia by Minnesota Code criteria of a 12-lead resting electrocardiogram (EKG) was assessed in 3723 Iranian subjects aged ≥25 years.
